Neil Young – Comes a Song

Neil Young’s music is at the heart of this evening. His songs speak of new beginnings and loss, memory, longing and those moments when an entire life seems to be reflected in a single song. The starting point is Navid Kermani’s story “Das Buch der von Neil Young Getöteten”, about a young family whose newborn daughter will only fall asleep to Neil Young’s music.

With a light touch, Kermani brings a young family’s everyday life into Neil Young’s musical world. The music becomes a space in which love and transience, ageing, longing and those fleeting moments when life suddenly seems complete can resonate.

Ludwig Blochberger makes the prose and songs his own in a deeply personal way. In his passionate solo performance with guitar, vocals and harmonica, the songs are far more than musical interludes. They pick up themes, carry moods forward and give the story its own momentum. The result is an immediate, moving evening in which storytelling and music come together naturally, sustained by a palpable passion for Neil Young.
